April 4, 2011 GALWAY, IRELAND -(Coal Geology) – AES Borsodi Energetikai (Tiszapalkonya, Hungary), the Hungarian arm of U.S. power company AES Corporation (NYSE:AES) (Arlington, Virginia), has stopped power production at two of its three plants in Hungary.
According to Hungarian news sources, the company has halted operations at its coal- and biomass-fired Tiszapalkonya Power Plant in the east of the country and its Borsod Power Plant in Kazincbarcika in the northeast, which is fuelled primarily by biomass. Industrial Info is tracking 54 active AES projects worldwide that are worth a total of more than 4.9 billion euros ($7 billion).
