September 15, 2010;Washington, D.C; (Coal Geology): :Let the congress know about your great support for coal mining. Join thousands of miners and supporters of coal mining who are heading to Capitol Hill to make sure their voices are heard. Concerns about the moratorium on Appalachian mining permits, threats from hostile legislation and recent actions from the EPA that make unfair and unrealistic water quality requirements of the mining operations threaten the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs and severely damaging local economies. The rally will take place in Russell Park on Capitol Hill and will feature several members of congress and supporters of coal mining.
“If this situation continues where the federal government is unfairly persecuting the coal mining industry, we as a country will lose hundreds of thousands of jobs,” said Bryan Brown, executive director of the WV FACES of Coal. “Miners, families of miners, business people from all industries are coming to Washington, D.C. to make sure Congress knows how desperate the situation is; we are standing up for our jobs!”
