October 9, 2010 (Coal Geology): A train carrying coal was derailed in the Latehar District of India’s Jharkhand state on Friday. While The cause of the derailment is under investigation, local media say Maoists may have had a role in the accident. Since federal government launched Operation Green Hunt, Maoists attacks have become very common in this part of India.

    Oh BS! Blaming terrorists (or anybody else) is becoming standard procedure to avoid paying fines and clean up costs for any corporate blunder especially the fossil fuel industry… Coal trains derail because the unavoidable coal dust cakes on the rails and cause derailment. The local communities pay for the all cleanup and the coal and rail companies get a free ride so to speak.
